Naming updates to Shortcuts and Variables

Shortcuts are now called templates & Variables are now called info when on a site or placeholders when in a template.

We are updating these names in Magical’s panel that travels with you, in your workspace, and in this community over the next week.

WHY? These are words YOU use to describe Magical. The goal of this change is to make Magical more intuitive by using your language.

This is what the new and improved names look like in action ⬇️

Shortcuts ➡️ Templates

Shortcuts are now called templates.

You use your saved content in Magical as a way to expand text, write messages, complete forms, or take notes. This saved content represents templates for the work you do every day. Templates that you can use anywhere. Templates with expanded text, templates with meeting links and email signatures, and templates with personalized emails.

Variables ➡️ Info

Variables are now called info when referring to content on a website/web-app and placeholders when you are writing templates.

Variables is a bit of a technical word 👎 . And we know most of you are not software developers. You might be, but so many of you are non-technical, like me. To us, this word can feel hard to understand.

Instead, we are going to call the content you find on a website, info.
And when you want to use a placeholder for that info in a template, it will be called a placeholder.
