Learn how to share Magical templates with people outside your workspace. Bulk transfer templates by folder or tag—or move them between your own accounts.

Updated over a week ago

As a Magical user, you can easily share your templates with people outside your company—or even transfer them to another one of your accounts.

You have two options: share individual templates or share multiple templates in bulk (the most common).

Share an individual template

  1. Open the template you’d like to share.

  2. Click the Share button in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Create link.

  4. Copy and send the share link to anyone.

Share templates in bulk (folders or tags)

  1. From the Templates dashboard, click the filter icon.

  2. Filter by the folder (e.g., Home for personal templates, or a Team Folder for shared templates) or by tag.

  3. Select all templates.

  4. Click Share.

  5. Copy and send the share link.

Transferring between your own accounts?
This is also how to transfer templates between your own accounts. Just generate a share link from one account and open it while signed into another.

FAQs

Do I need to be signed in to share templates?
Yes. You must be signed in to create and send template links.

What if the recipient already has a template with the same trigger?
Magical will flag conflicts.

  • If it’s an exact duplicate, we’ll keep their original.

  • If the trigger is already taken, they’ll be asked to rename the new one.

Why does Magical say a trigger is already being used when it doesn’t look like it?
Triggers can overlap. Example: if you add a template with the trigger z, but already have zoom, Magical will flag it because typing “zoom” would expand “z.”

Do shared templates keep my tags?
The receiver will see your name as a tag for easy reference. They can edit or delete this tag.

What if I share templates with someone who doesn’t use Magical?
They’ll be prompted to download Magical first. Once installed, your templates will appear.

If I update a template, will recipients get the new version automatically?
No. Updates are not synced after someone accepts templates. But if they re-open your share link later, they’ll get the latest version.

Do share links expire?
No—share links never expire.
